About the questions
Where the answers come from
How do you know the answers are right?
Every product question is based on a binding ruling that a customs authority issued for that product and that is still valid: EU binding tariff information (BTI), UK advance tariff rulings, Norwegian binding tariff classifications and US Customs and Border Protection rulings. We skip products where valid rulings disagree with each other.
The other questions quote the official texts: the General Interpretative Rules and the section and chapter notes of the tariff. After each answer you see the reasoning and the source.
Is this advice for my own products?
No. This is a game. A ruling binds the authority only for the product and the holder it was issued to, and a small difference in your product can change its classification. Check the official tariff, or ask for a binding ruling of your own.
